I managed 6 out of 6 in the last round so I am feeling pretty pleased with myself. I predicted Webster to cause the upset and he did. Time to see if I can pick 6 out of 6 for tommorrow. It is harder tommorrow with some games easily going either way.
Kim Huybrechts v Max Hopp
The TAB have Huybrechts as favourite at $1.35 and Hopp at $3.00. I think it is closer than that and there is not much difference in form between both. I will go for Huybrechts even though I do not like him as a player and prefer Hopp.
James Wade v Steve Beaton
Wade is scoring a little better than Beaton and Wade always finishes well so I am going for Wade who is favourite.
Jelle Klaasen v Brendan Dolan
Klassen is the $1.30 favourite and Dolan is paying $3.30. Again I think this is closer than odds suggest with their scoring and finishing similar. I am going for Dolan because he is a slow player and that may upset Klassen’s rhythm who plays better when he gets chance to play fast. I have seen Dolan go slower than he normally does against fast players so expect him to do it if he sees advantage in it.
Peter Wright v Jamie Lewis
Easy game for Wright who will smash Lewis.
Gary Anderson v Benito Van De Pas
Easy win for Anderson
Adrian Lewis v Raymond Van Barneveld
The TAB have both players at $1.87. I agree it will be close. I thought Lewis would loose his last game and was wrong and surprised how well he went. I prefer Barneveld to win but I am going for Lewis just.
Something for those that like statistics. Over the first 100 legs of the 2017 PDC World Darts Championships the most popular double was D20 being hit 29 times. Full list below;
Bullseye x 3
D20 x 29, D10 x 11, D5 x 7
D19 x 1
D18 x 2, D9 x 1
D17 x 0
D16 x 12, D8 x 6, D4 x 5, D2 x 6, D1 x 3
D15 x 1
D14 x 1
D13 x 0
D12 x 6, D6 x 3, D3 x 1
D11 x 1
50% of the time players go the double tops route and about 25% of the time it is the D16 route with everything else making up the remaining 25%.
My last bets did not go too well. I only picked 3 from 6. They say to be a successful sports bettor you need to win at least 66% or 2 out of three bets. Here are my picks for Wednesday 13 December.
Mensur Suljovic v Mark Webster
The TAB have Mensur as the favourite. It should be close. I am giving it to Webster as his averages are close to Mensur and he gets the occassion upset. Plus I prefer him to watch as a player. Not for any other reason. It is 50/50 really.
Robert Thornton v Daryl Gurney
Gurney has been playing much better than Thornton so should take it.
David Chisnall v Chris Dobey
Chisnall should win as he is a better scorer.
Raymond Van Barneveld v Alan Norris.
Raymond has been playing much better than Norris so should do it.
Phil Taylor v Kevin Painter.
Taylor is a class above Painter who has not played great for years. Not on TV anyway.
Michael Van Gerwen v Christo Reyes.
Michael to win but Reyes to put up a fight.
The Minute Man Dart league in the Greater Boston area of the United States is porportedly the largest steel tip dart league in the world with over 350 teams divided into 4 geographical areas and up to 13 divisions in each area. They may have had 10,000 registered players at one stage. I beleive there income is such that they have full time paid officials. You would need that. Just being the recorder for that many teams would be full time as well as jobs like taking entries and so on.
It made me wonder what is NZ’s largest dart league. The Auckland Chartered Club Darts Association league which I play in on a Wednesday night has 27 teams over 3 divisions and I beleive is the largest in Auckland. It probably has 120 to 150 players. There are three seperate Saturday leagues run by City of Sails, Auckland Darts Association and ACCDA. They would if combined have more players but I doubt any one has 27 teams.
Does anyone know of a larger league in New Zealand? Please share your information in the comments.
