Peter Herewini Wins Taniwha Darts Association Open Singles 12/2/17

Northland Darts is really beginning to take off with the first of newly formed Taniwha Darts Association Open tournaments for 2017. Competitors travelled as far north as the Bay of Islands and as far south as Manuwera to support us in Whangarei, it was great to see and certainly a boost for darts in the North. As we now expect in New Zealand the darts thrown were exceptional, none more than eventual winner, local legend Peter Herewini. After taking out the group stage he ensued in a last eight battle with Mick Lacey which resulted in a best of seven going all the way, toe to toe for the first six legs before Herewini proved victorious taking out the last and deciding leg just after Lacey had wired the bull for a potentially match winning 164 check out, no leg went beyond 16 darts with Herewini missing treble 19 which could have left him double twelve for the perfect leg of nine darts. Outstanding game and worthy of any TV screen. A great day for Northland Darts
