Congratulations to Cody Harris in qualifying to be one of the 96 players to play in this year’s UK Open. He was 71st out of a field of more than 250. No mean achievement and a first for a kiwi.
Hi everyone. I haven’t seen an official statement regarding this yet but thought I would give you a heads-up regarding the PDC World Series of Darts Qualifiers for the Auckland, Brisbane and Melbourne Masters events in August.
The PDC have instructed that all New Zealand qualifiers for the above events are to be held during the week of the Clubs NZ National Championships in Invercargill in July. Our information is that the Monday and Tuesday prior to Wednesday’s Mixed Pairs will be utilised, in addition to the Friday and possibly Sunday, although I have not heard confirmation on this. This means that there will be no Auckland Masters Qualifiers at Swanson as in previous years. This has come directly from the PDC, not from the DPNZ or Clubs NZ, as the PDC is the owner of the WSOD events and any associated qualifications.
Additionally, the PDC has not yet advised how many wildcards will be offered to players for these events, therefore the number of qualifications available is not yet final. I will advise as soon as I learn of confirmations unless an official statement is made from the PDC or DPNZ.
I just wanted to make sure everyone knew before booking flights and accommodation as I know of several who are already doing so.
Mad on Darts 2018 – we run non political, non profit events supported by you and darts venues across the country. We are developing the sport across the whole country and not just one area. We offer events that encourage new players and old players to come and have fun and play darts. We provide prizes for hundreds of players and not just the top players. In 2017 we gave away over $45,000 in cash, vouchers, hams and other prizes and had well over 400+ different players at events.
This year, MOD 2018, along with the $40,000+ prize money we will be offering the winner of our Mad on Darts tour the prize of an all expenses paid trip to Q School in January 2019. The prize will be awarded after our extra special finals night event in December. The finals night will be made up of the top 16 players in our new combined rankings (Men,Ladies,Youth). There will also be a stage final for our top youth players (under 24) and our top ladies. All stage finalists will receive a $$$ prize. There will be more details to follow over the coming weeks but I can announce or first few venues where you can pick up ranking points. Auckland 24/25th Feb, Timaru 24/25th March, Gisborne 14/15th April, Te Kuiti 19/20th May…… with more to follow. I will announce some terms and conditions for the finals night in the next few days too……Mad on Darts, the future is bright, the future is Mad on Darts.
